Alhamdulillah! It almost one month we never miss sahur or iftar — making sure our stomach is filled so that we have enough energy to get through the day and night. We are mindful of what goes into our bodies, carefully planning meals to stay strong and healthy. But here’s the question:
What about our hearts?
Are we feeding our spiritual needs with the same care and consistency? Just as our bodies feel weak when deprived of food, our hearts become hardened and distant from Allah when deprived of iman, dhikr, and reflection.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
Just like our stomachs crave food, our hearts crave closeness to Allah. They need the nourishment of Qur’an, dua, reminders, and sincere acts of worship. Without this, the heart becomes spiritually starved, even if the body feels full.
As Ramadan nears its end, it is good for us to ponder:
• Have we given enough attention to our hearts as we did to our bodies?
• Are we leaving Ramadan with hearts that are softened, purified, and closer to Allah?
There’s still time! Let’s feed our souls with awakening reminders, sincere tawbah, heartfelt dua, and genuine dhikr before this blessed month slips away.
The real victory of Ramadan is not just in completing the fast but in leaving with a heart that is alive and connected to Allah the whole year. Just to remind us that the God that we worship in Ramadan is still the same God for the whole year.
Finally, concept of the righteous fearing the non-acceptance of their deeds is also reflected in the Qur’an:
Aisha (رضي الله عنها) asked the Prophet ﷺ about this verse, and he replied:
May Allah accept our صيام, our قيام and all our deeds. آمين

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Indeed, in the body, there is a piece of flesh which, if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Verily, it is the heart.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 52; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1599)

“So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.”
[Surah Al-Ḥajj, 22:46]
